A new bench installed at a Faversham beauty spot has been set on fire just a week after being put in place.
The seat by Westbrook Stream has been left charred and broken by flames.
The town council says the bench was "kindly donated by two Faversham residents, as they wanted somewhere they, and others, could rest and watch the wildlife".
Now, they have been left devastated by the action of vandals.
Outraged residents have labelled those did the damage as "mindless idiots" and "despicable".
After the council shared news of the fire on its Facebook page, Sittingbourne-based joinery firm B W May & Son has offered to replace the broken panels free of charge.
