The dying words of a man stabbed in the heart in a caravan park clash were said to have been: “I know the bald one knifed me to death.”

Alexandru Constantinescu, 30, is alleged to have described his attacker shortly after he was stabbed at Brotherhood Wood in Dunkirk.

He was also heard by a friend to say: “I know I am dying. My only regret is that my child is to be left an orphan.”

Dumitru Palazu, 48, is currently on trial accused of murdering Mr Constantinescu in April this year.

A jury at Maidstone Crown Court has heard how a fight was witnessed by a number of people living on the caravan site.

Romanian Marian Dima told police how he was was in caravan 37 at about 6.30pm when he heard an argument.

He left his caravan and saw a group of men “pulling and pushing at each other”.

He says he saw Palazu - who has denied murder - walking fast towards the group.

He said: “Palazu had his fist clenched, arm raised and in his fist he had something as if trying to conceal it.

“I could see in his right hand something which seemed to be the handle of a knife, however I could not see the blade.”

Palazu is accused of stabbing Mr Constantinescu through the heart.

Mr Dima told officers: “I thought maybe the blade was on the inside of his right sleeve. It was a thin handle and I think it looked like some kind of small kitchen knife, the kind of knife that that you would cut vegetables with.

“Palazu was holding the knife next to his body and his left hand was also kept sideways next to his body and it was not held up in the air.”

Palazu is alleged to have run away after dumping the knife.

The jury had earlier heard how he has two convictions for killing people in his native Romania.
