A lorry driver has been arrested after three men were killed when their car crashed into his parked truck on the A2.
The 35-year-old French national was taken into custody following the tragedy at Dunkirk - between Faversham and Canterbury - at about 4.30am yesterday.
Three friends in their early 30s, from Finsbury Park in London, died, while a fourth man, in his 20s and from Enfield, is fighting for his life in a London hospital.
The lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous or reckless driving has since been released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed for more than nine hours while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit tried to establish the exact circumstances of the accident on the Londonbound carriageway.
A friend of the three victims told earlier today how their deaths had stunned their close-knit community.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage which may assist the investigation.
Witnesses should call the appeal line on 01622 798538, quoting reference SCIU/DM/008/18.
