Crash on M2 coastbound between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham

There are delays on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 following a crash.

Drivers have been warned to expect heavy traffic following a collision between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham.

KCC Highways tweeted about the incident shortly after 9.30pm, and warned motorists to "expect delays in the area".

Police have been contacted for more information.

It comes as Kent gets set for another scorching-hot day - with temperatures expected to peak at 38C.

Thermometers hit highs of 35C in the county yesterday, but experts believe it could go beyond that mark this afternoon.

A red weather warning is in place in parts of Kent – including Dartford and Chatham – as experts warn the heat will lead "to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure".
