Thanet Way crash: Man dies after crash with car transporter on A299 near Dargate

A 54-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car transporter on the Thanet Way.
Police shut the London-bound carriageway near Dargate just after 9am this morning.
They have now confirmed the man, who was standing next to a grey Porsche Boxster parked off the carriageway, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drivers suffered long delays after the accident on the London-bound carriageway near Dargate.
Both sides were initially shut, but the coast-bound carriageway reopened soon after.
Highways officials confirmed the London-bound carriageway reopened at 8.50pm.
Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the car transporter or the man standing next to the Porsche immediately beforehand.
A police spokesman said: "The London-bound carriageway between the Whitstable turn-off and Brenley corner will be closed for a number of hours.
"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes."
A Kent Highways spokesman added: "Expect long delays in the surrounding areas. Please use alternative routes and allow extra time for your journey."
