An elderly man accused of trying to kill another care home resident who was repeatedly stabbed in the face has been found unfit to enter a plea.
But Dennis Latter, 78, will stand trial on charges of attempted murder and an alternative of wounding with intent on October 4.
The jury will only have to decide whether he “did the act”.
He is alleged to have attacked an 89-year-old woman at Kingsfield Care Home in Jubilee Way, Faversham, on December 20 last year.
The victim was later discharged from hospital.
Latter appeared at Maidstone Crown Court by TV link with Reading Crown Court.
The home, which has been rated as “requires improvement” by the Care Quality Commission, is run by Care UK and described as providing “quality, tailored, short-term respite breaks, plus nursing, residential, end-of-life care and residential care for older people living with dementia”.
