A man injured in a crash on the A2 between Canterbury and Faversham last night has died.
The victim, who was in his 60s and from the Isle of Sheppey, was driving a white Iveco road sweeper when it collided with a red Mercedes lorry on the Boughton by-pass at around 4.21pm yesterday.
Despite being taken by air ambulance to King's Collge Hospital, London, he later died.
Both vehicles were travelling towards Brenley Corner on the London-bound carriageway.
The road was closed until 1.15 this morning, bringing traffic to a standstill for several hours.
Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
The road sweeper was driving a vehicle belonging to the Quattro Group, a private company which hires out equipment to the road, rail and construction industries.
The firm did not want to comment on the incident.
Anyone who has yet to speak to officers or has dash cam footage is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 01622 798538.
