00:00, 22 August 2002
A MAN hanged himself early today from the Painters Forstal bridge over the M2 motorway near Faversham.
Police were called at about 6am after receiving reports from members of the public. The London-bound carriageways between junctions five and six were closed for several hours and diversions were put into place.
A police spokeswoman said: "At present we aren't treating the incident as suspicious."
The body of the man, who was believed to be 56 and from Sittingbourne, was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital by ambulance. He has not yet been named.
