Part of the M2 was closed during this evening's rush hour after a pile-up involving five cars.
Emergency crews were called to the stretch between junction 6 for Faversham and 5 for Sittingbourne at about 5.30pm.
The crash prompted police to close both lanes of the London-bound carriageway, causing long tailbacks.
Both lanes have now re-opened and traffic is back to normal.
No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the smash.
