Fire crews had to cut a person from the wreckage of a vehicle after two cars crashed on the hard shoulder of the M2.
Emergency crews were called to the accident on the coastbound carriageway, between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham, shortly after 12.30pm.
When they arrived at the scene, four people had already got themselves out of their cars, but a woman in her early 60s was trapped in one of the vehicles.
Firefighters and paramedics assessed the woman before using hydraulic rescue gear to free her.
It is not yet known if anyone was seriously hurt.
One lane was closed on the M2 while emergency services dealt with the crash.
