DETECTIVES are investigating the death of a former lecturer found at his home with a cracked skull.

The body of John Harrison, 57, of Ethelred Court, Ethelbert Road, Faversham, was discovered on December 9. It has emerged that the coroner is not satisfied he died from natural causes.

Officers have been conducting house to house inquiries in Faversham and also in Murston, Sittingbourne, where some of Mr Harrison’s property was found.

Brian Wharrad, landlord of the Phoenix pub where Mr Harrison was a regular said: “He was a perfect gentleman. He drank in here on the day he died but nobody knows what happened next."

Mr Harrison, who used to lecture at the London School of Economics, was also a regular at the Chimney Boy and the Railway pubs. He lived alone.

Det Insp Derek Cuff said Mr Harrison was discovered by a neighbour and was found to have a head injury.

He added: “Mr Harrison’s death is unexplained. We would like to hear from anyone who has any information about his movements between December 5 and 9.
