A town councillor and café owner will be “vlogging” every single day for the next year ahead of the London Marathon 2018.
Nick Green, who runs Jittermugs coffee shop in Preston Street, has only ever run six miles before but will take on the epic 26.5 mile run through the capital next year in aid of children’s charity NSPCC.
All his blood, sweat and tears as he prepares for the monumental challenge will be captured on camera and posted to YouTube.

He hopes to get the whole town involved in the fundraising and wants to represent Faversham when he joins the thousands of runners from around the globe next year.
Nick, 50, of Dorset Place, said: “I have been thinking about it for a little while and decided I needed to do it.
“The NSPCC is a fantastic charity. There are a lot of kids out there that need a lot of help. Cruelty to children is happening all around us, even in Faversham, and if the NSPCC is campaigning to stop this from happening, I want to help.
“I want to make it Faversham’s voice speaking out against child cruelty, sending out the message that it can be stopped.”
Nick has already been accepted by NSPCC to represent them but has to raise at least £4,000.
He will be asking the schools and community groups to get involved and will be organising a number of fundraising events at Jittermugs.
He also hopes the town council will lend a hand.
Nick says he wants everyone to follow his progress through his YouTube videos and cheer him on as he makes the journey from councillor and café owner to athlete.
“I will be posting 30 seconds to a minute video clips, telling people what I have been up to that day or how I’m feeling,” said Nick.
“It might be about the run itself, my progress and any challenges I am facing.
“I will be doing it every single day, even Christmas Day.”
He hopes to lose two stone before the big day and will be combining his own personal training programme with sessions in the gym and running around the town.
Nick will be setting up a JustGiving page for donations but won’t be launching it until after this year’s marathon.
He said: “I haven’t given myself a target but anything over £4,000 will be a bonus.
“The money will go towards local initiatives in schools and to child abuse awareness campaigns, helping kids living in abusive homes.
“Most of us have children who lead happy, healthy lives, but there are some kids who have years and years of tragedy.
“They do not know anything different than abuse and unhappiness. I am looking for it to be lots of fun but also raise a lot of money too.”
