Two men have been arrested after cabling was stolen from an industrial site in the early hours.
Police rushed to the premises in Water Lane, Faversham, at about 2.30am yesterday after being notified that an on-site alarm had been activated.
As they made their way there, they noticed a van driving away from the scene in the opposite direction which is said to have accelerated away when officers turned around their patrol car.
The driver then stopped when requested to do so in London Road at about 2.50am.
Officers searched the vehicle, and found heavy duty tools and hydraulic cutting equipment inside.
While this search was underway, the officers received notification that damage had been caused to cabling at a nearby industrial site.
Two men, aged 27 and 46, were arrested on suspicion of attempted theft, going equipped for theft and criminal damage.
They remain in custody as enquiries continue.
