A PARTIALLY-SIGHTED grandmother was mugged on her way to a service at the United Church in Preston Street at Faversham.
The 79-year-old woman fought to keep hold of her handbag but her hand was injured as she was pulled to the ground on the footbridge leading from St Catherine's Churchyard to Station Road.
After the mugger had escape with just £5 ing she was so shocked she decided to return home. The Rev Chris Esgate said: "The attacker was hiding under the bridge and because her sight is so poor she could hardly see him. She is a loving and caring person and if he had asked her for the money she would have given it to him."
The attacker was a young white male who was wearing a dark overcoat. Police are appealing for witnesses and want to hear from anyone who has found the woman's handbag.
