Police forced their way into a town centre flat to arrest a man on suspicion of burglary.
Officers were called to Market Place in Faversham at about 9am today.
Four patrol cars could be seen parked outside the Guildhall while the arrest was carried out at a flat above Carter's Newsagents.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police officers attended a property in Market Place, Faversham, to detain a man who is a suspect for a burglary offence.
"It was necessary for attending officers to force entry to the property, before they detained a 36-year-old man from Sittingbourne on suspicion of burglary and a separate theft offence.
"The burglary is reported to have taken place in Dover on 23 August and the theft is said to have taken place at a shop in Faversham on 7 September."
The man remains in custody while the investigation continues.
