16:00, 07 August 2015

Police have handed out more powers to their officers in a bid to clamp down on 'nuisance youths'.

Swale CSU announced today that they have issued additional authority to their PCs and PCSOs to help deal with teens at Faversham Rec over the weekend.

The dispersal order is only temporary and will last 48 hours from 6pm today (Friday.)

The move is in response to antisocial youths leaving litter and drinking alcohol.

Sergeant Tim Hill, of the Swale community safety unit, said: "We have seen an increase in antisocial behaviour over the past few weeks, and this temporary power gives officers the ability to disperse anyone they suspect of acting in an antisocial manner.

"This is a park to be shared and enjoyed by all and will not affect those who act in a responsible manner."
