A primary school pupil is awake and in a stable condition after falling ill at school yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to St Mary of Charity Primary School in Orchard Place, Faversham, yesterday after the child became suddenly ill due to an undiagnosed medical condition.
The youngster was airlifted to a London hospital shortly after lunchtime.
But in an update this afternoon, head teacher Louise Rowley-Jones said: "I am delighted to inform you that we have been in contact with the family and the Year 6 child, who was suddenly taken ill at lunchtime due to an undiagnosed medical condition, is stable and awake in hospital.
"Tests are still being conducted but we have been reassured that our staff and the emergency services provided the best possible care that they could have and have therefore supported the pupil towards, hopefully, a full recovery in time.
"Please continue to keep the family and child in your thoughts and prayers.
"At school the children have received a special Worship, been making cards and have access to counselling where needed."
Police joined road ambulances and a children's air ambulance at the school yesterday, where some eyewitnesses reported seeing the playground cordoned off with police tape.
Mrs Rowley-Jones says a number of parents have since raised concerns with the school about the "magnitude of the response from the emergency services".
But she added: "I would like to reassure you that this level of response is normal for a school and reflects the seriousness of the incident that occurred.
"Again I am so grateful to our emergency services, the staff at school, our children and all of you who have expressed your warm wishes and support."
