A unique artist who transforms once buzzing insects into silver has based his latest exhibition in a secret underground location.
Justin Gilday, who owns his own pest control company, has silver casted everything from scorpions to slugs, and his latest show at Creek Creative in Abbey Street places some his work in the heart of a tunnel not usually open to the public.
Justin says he is using the exhibition, named A Spring Nativity – A Time to Question All Things, to “soapbox” his views on austerity, politics and terrorism, among other issues, with each piece of work telling a different story.
The tunnel, which has now been closed off at one end, was once used to transport bottles from Rigden’s Brewery, which is now Tesco, to the Creek Creative building, which was once part of the brewery.
Until Sunday, April 2, a part of Justin’s exhibition will be displayed inside.
Justin said: “Every piece tells a story for entertainment, but also gives some entomology education.
“I have set a different scene using different insects in each piece of work.
“All of the insects were once alive and for me, within my work, they come alive again.”
