Police appeal for witnesses after suspected stabbing in Barnes Close, Bysing Wood, Faversham

An 18-year-old has been charged after a man was reportedly stabbed in a street in Faversham.

Johnny Brazil, of Barrow Grove in Sittingbourne, has been charged with wounding with intent, threatening someone with a blade and two counts of assault.

A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice has been bailed until September, while another man, aged 20, who was arrested yesterday has been released without charge.

The arrests follows an incident in Barnes Close at about 9pm on Saturday night, when a 24-year-old received knife wounds to his stomach.

He was taken to King's College Hospital, London for treatment, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Specialist medics were also flown in by air ambulance and accompanied the victim by road to the hospital.

Brazil has been remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates Court today.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing and they are still appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Andy Featherstone said: "I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police as your information may help with our ongoing enquiries.

"I would like to reassure residents that this is being treated as an isolated incident and the victim and suspects were known to each other.

"Although we have made three arrests, this continues to be an ongoing investigation."
