A mum-of-four stressed out after a tense day with her children smoked cannabis before driving a car carrying her three-month-old baby, a court has heard.
Katie Stickells left magistrates "flabbergasted" after she admitted taking the Class B drug before jumping behind the wheel of her VW Golf.
She had been travelling home to Faversham with her baby in the back seat and another of her children, aged seven, in the front when she was pulled over by police in Dolphin Road, Murstson
The 33-year-old failed a roadside drug swipe and was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.
A blood test later gave a reading of 3.2 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) per litre of blood in her system - the legal limit is two.
Stickells was charged with drug-driving and admitted the offence when she appeared before magistrates in Medway on April 5.
The court was told Stickells, who has no previous convictions, had smoked a cannabis joint just before the journey to relieve stress following a tense time with her children.
The mobile cleaner, who works in the Sheerness, Iwade and Rochester areas but is also on Universal Credit, added that she regrets her actions.
Magistrates fined Stickells £120 and banned her from driving for 12 months.
Mark Tucker, chairman of the bench, said: "We are flabbergasted you got in the car with your children and then drove.
"You are never going to do that again are you?"
Stickells was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £48, plus £85 costs.
