Hundreds of people queued for more than an hour to feast on a free sandwich as Subway opened its doors in Faversham.
The Subway franchise is now running inside the Simply Fresh store, in Whitstable Road, and has created 12 new jobs for Faversham people.
Back in March, the Faversham News was the first to reveal the news that the sandwich brand was arriving in the town and we joined the crowds at the "sub-party".
The counter was officially open from today.
Sandeep Bains is the owner of Simply Fresh and now of Subway and was thrilled to see so many customers queuing for a sub..
He said: "Our partnership with the Subway brand is in direct response to the increasing consumer demand in the town for affordable, healthier choices and is a great opportunity for us to bring in a new offering to the Simply Fresh store.
"We hope to see residents and visitors to the area coming in to try it out."
The store will be open from 7am until 9pm from Monday to Saturday and 8am until 8pm on Sundays.
There will also be a delivery service available for residents and businesses within a 2.5 mile radius.
Subway spokesman Hemina Haque said: "In addition to finding and opening stores in Kent and Surrey in traditional high street locations, retail parks and shopping centres, the Subway brand’s development within the non-traditional sector is set to increase dramatically over the coming years.
"The opening of this new store in Whitstable Road is a great example of how well a Subway store can integrate into a non-traditional location, and we’re sure that the partnership will be a great success."
