Three people have been rescued by fire crews after they were left stranded in a flooded road in Faversham.
The trio got caught out in deep water while driving along North Lane, near to the Shepherd Neame brewery, as the town's creek burst its banks in the early afternoon.
Firefighters – who were deployed in three fire engines – found three people stranded in two separate vehicles.
The crews, wearing dry suits, waded into the water to rescue them and lead them to safety.
The fire service, which was called out at 1.30pm and left at 2.10pm, has now released advice reminding drivers how to act when they come across deep water.
"The public are being advised to avoid any roads that are flooded, and to take extra care by following a few simple steps.
"Avoid driving or walking through flood water – it’s often deeper than it looks.
"Don't ignore signs about road closures due to flooding and consider your safety at all times and don’t take unnecessary risks on the roads."
Water spilled onto surrounding roads after the creek burst its banks due to an unusually high tide, brought about by a tidal surge.
Flood alerts are in place across much of the north east Kent coast due to the wind-driven surge.
The chance of flooding at coastal and creekside areas is expected to continue until after the high tides at 12.45pm tomorrow.
