The highly anticipated micro pub will finally open its doors in Faversham this week.

More than a year after the Faversham News reported that the town would finally have its own micro pub, we can now reveal that it will open on Thursday evening.

Doors will open at 6pm at Furlongs Ale House in Preston Street, with landlords Andrew Sach and Martin Brenchley-Sayers at the helm.

Town councillors threw their support behind the planning application in June, for change of use from retail to micro-pub, with Cllr Tom Gates (con) saying he was "keen for this to go ahead".

Swale Borough Council planning officers backed their recommendation after a wave of support from the town.

As a little taster, Mr Sach set up a pop-up micro pub during the Hop Festival, building anticipation for the Christmas opening.

Working 8am until 10pm in the build up to the opening, Mr Sach took some time out to talk to the Faversham News. He said: "We are really pleased that we are finally opening and really excited for Thursday.

"We have told hundreds of people about it so we are expecting a great turn out. We look forward to welcoming people to Furlongs."

The pub will be the first of its kind in Faversham but there are already a number of the trendy boozers in nearby Whitstable, Herne Bay and Sittingbourne.

On Thursday, Mr Sach hopes to have at least four beers on offer.

The building is currently covered up but to see exclusive pictures before the opening, pick up a copy of the Faversham News on Thursday morning.
