All traffic was held on the M2 after a crash between a lorry and a car.
The accident happened shortly before 7.30pm on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham.
Traffic was held back for a time so the emergency services could deal with the crash scene, but it is understood the driver of the car managed to free himself from the wreckage.
He was subsequently taken to hospital, but police said his injures were not thought to be serious.
As a result of the incident the road was blocked for a time as there was debris in the carriageway.
It is believed no-one suffered any serious injury and drivers can expect delays as one lane closed and traffic is slow.
