Woman made up rape allegations

A WOMAN could be facing prosecution after she admitted inventing allegations that she was twice raped.
Ronald Wiltshire, 29, of Burnt Oast Road, Boughton, near Faversham, was cleared of any wrong doing when the prosecution offered no evidence against him.
Ann Phillips, prosecuting, said Mr Wiltshire was alleged to have committed the offences on October 20 last year.
But during the last court hearing, she said, the woman approached lawyers and confessed that her statements claiming she had been the victim of the sex attacks were a fabrication.
"She indicated that she would come to court and say as much," said Mrs Phillips. "She gave a reason why the complaints had been made in the first place. A statement was taken from her to that effect.
"In all the circumstances, the Crown take the view it would be impossible to proceed in this matter."
Judge Andrew Patience, QC, entered not guilty verdicts on the charges and asked: "Just out of interest, is the matter going to be left there?"
Mrs Phillips replied: "No, the reviewing lawyer has taken the initial view that no further proceedings would follow.
"However, I understand the officer in the case is not content with that course. He has been told to submit a full advice file and that will in due course be considered."
Mr Wiltshire and his lawyers were not required to be at Maidstone Crown Court for the hearing.
