Faversham Zumba teacher Leigh Miles to dance for Dame Vera Lynn's 100th birthday

A Zumba teacher who gets people boogying across the town will dance for Dame Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday.
Leigh Miles, who is also a renowned choreographer and even co-ordinated the moves for Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie, has been chosen to perform at London Palladium event later this month.
Leigh teaches Zumba and pilates classes throughout Faversham and the surrounding villages.
This isn’t her first noteworthy performance, and she has choreographed and danced for the Royal Variety Show, Paul O’Grady’s show and many of the Generation Games.
Leigh, who says she is honoured to be a part of the commemoration will be performing with her former dance group Dougie Squires Second Generation with Dougie directing the performance.
About 75 dancers from the 1950s through to the 90s will be reforming for one night only for the celebration on Saturday, March 18.
Leigh said: “Dougie is truly an amazing person and has had such an influence on so many lives. I have many great memories of the times working with him.
“Getting back together as a group and catching up with so many old friends is such fun.
“It’s like being 20 again except the legs may not kick so high.”
Leigh once took on the lead role of Clara in the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House and is known as one of TV’s top television dancers.
100: A Tribute to Dame Vera Lynn, celebrates the life of the singer, songwriter and actress, who was known for performing to troops across the world during the Second World War.
She was often called the Forces’ Sweetheart and went on to raise millions of pounds for charity.
Vera will celebrate her 100th birthday on March 20.
The event will raise funds for the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity and will include performances from Bradley Walsh, Aled Jones and the RAF Squadronaires.
