A second-half fightback ensured new Faversham manager Tommy Warrilow got off to a winning start at Rusthall on Saturday.

Warrilow, appointed as Sammy Moore’s successor at the big-spending Southern Counties East Premier Division side on Wednesday, had plenty to do at half-time after Martin Youngah had given the hosts the lead in front of a crowd of 322.

But the Lilywhites levelled through striker Warren Mfula and went ahead courtesy of an own goal four minutes later following pressure by top scorer Stefan Payne on a Rusthall player, and held on for a 2-1 triumph.

Third-placed Corinthian earned a 3-1 home win over Whitstable, sixth, in a big match in front of a crowd of 151.

Winger Josh Williams put Marcel Nimani’s Oystermen in front after just three minutes but quickfire goals from Oscar Housego and Harry Lashley turned things around, and midfielder Sam Bewick got the Hoops’ third early in the second period against one of his old clubs.

With regular Whitstable keeper Dan Eason still sidelined, he was replaced by Aaron Lee-Wharton on this occasion.

Bearsted were 5-2 victors at second-bottom Welling Town as they moved up to fourth.

Oliver Freeman, Joel Wakefield, Jordan Tingley, Jacob Kalonda and 17-year-old Alfie Cragg struck for Kevin Stevens’ side, the latter two opening their club accounts. Seb Rowland netted for the home side while their other effort came from an own goal.

Leaders Glebe remain a point ahead of Faversham thanks to a 3-1 success over Punjab United.

Jamie Coyle’s 25-yard chip alongside goals from Reece Barrett and Tom Hever put them three goals to the good before Bilal Bourouf pulled one back in the 70th minute.

Lydd - who started ex-Dover manager Mitch Brundle as he made a surprise playing return - earned a 3-1 success at basement boys Stansfeld.

Dean Grant struck twice for James Rogers’ Lydders and fellow forward Luke Burdon also scored in stunning style. That meant Mayowa Olufeko’s first-half strike proved a mere consolation for the home side.

Lordswood earned a 3-1 away victory over resurgent Kennington.

Josh Reid and Alex Willis had put them 2-0 up midway through the first period and, although Ryan Philpot got one back, Artem Kuchkov sealed the points with 15 minutes to go.

Snodland earned a 5-2 success at Fisher.

Taylor Fisher, Robbie Bissett - with a penalty - and Francis Babalola were among their scorers while Michael Sarpong and Andres Tobon responded in vain for the home team.

Two-goal Fjord Rogers ensured second-placed Division 1 team Rochester beat Tooting Bec 3-1.

Trailing at the interval, striker Rogers netted twice and Charlie Barlow rounded off the win in the 84th minute.

Fellow Division 1 play-off occupants Larkfield & New Hythe won 3-1 at FC Elmstead, recovering after they fell behind in the sixth minute.

Matt Day and Jack Sammoutis - with goals which sandwiched an own goal - did the damage.

It was a similar story for Staplehurst who got the better of visitors Forest Hill Park after the away team had struck first on three minutes.

Ted Rosetti swiftly levelled with just 15 minutes played and Stanley Oldfield then bagged a brace either side of half-time.

Mo Cham netted for Canterbury City but they were denied a win by a late Lewisham leveller in a 1-1 draw.

Faversham Strike Force lost 2-0 to struggling SC Thamesmead at Salters Lane.
