Faversham Town boss Ray Turner hoping for a bumper crowd when Maidstone United visit the Shepherd Neame Stadium

Ray Turner wants Faversham to put on a good show when Vanarama National League newcomers Maidstone visit the Shepherd Neame Stadium on Thursday – so the big boys will keep on coming to town.

Turner is hopeful of a bumper crowd with admission prices reduced to £5 for adults and £2 for concessions and the Stones – who beat the Lilywhites in the 2013 play-off final – now being three leagues above the Lilywhites.

The Town boss said: “We have gone in different directions since that
play-off final, although to be more accurate, they have gone in one direction but
we have stayed where we are.

“It’s a big game for us, our first at home and we’re taking it seriously.
“I’ll have a 15-man squad and everyone else will be involved in an under-21 game at Hollands & Blair.”

He added: “We want to put on a good show and show teams from higher levels that it’s still worth them coming down to play us in pre-season.

Town’s preparations continued with a goalless draw against neighbours Whitstable at Belmont on Saturday.

Faversham return to action at Folkestone Invicta on Saturday (3pm) before the visit of Southern Counties East League, Division 1 side K Sports to Salters Lane on Tuesday night.
