FAVERSHAM Football Club remain suspended from the Bass Brewers Kent League after failing to meet a deadline to produce a valid floodlight certificate. Town were given until Tuesday of this week to come up with the certificate but failed, forcing the postponement of Saturday's scheduled home fixture with Tunbridge Wells.

They could now be charged with failing to fulfil the fixture. League secretary Roy Vinter says the club have known about the certificate situation since mid August and have been given every opportunity to put the matter right.

He added that they have continually ignored correspondence on the matter and in the end the league were left with no option.

Mr Vinter said: "We have asked them about the certificate many times, both verbally and in writing, but they've done nothing.

"Back on August 23 Kent Black, the Faversham secretary, told me that John Glover, the chairman, had the matter in hand and it would taken six to eight days to sort out. They were told about being suspended on October 2, but we've had no acknowledgement from them even athough we specifically asked for acknowledgement in writing.

"I don't know what they are playing at but you get to the point when you have to say enough is enough."

Town were suspended by the league's management committee from Saturday, October 6 and Mr Vinter says there is no suggestion that they be allowed to kick off their home fixtures early to get round the problem.

"Why should they make them a special case? It is a condition of this league that clubs have floodlights and why shoud other teams have to make arrangements to travel to Faversham early? It's up to them to conform to the rules."
