Ray Turner is backing his Faversham squad to turn their fortunes around

Faversham Town boss Ray Turner says his players are giving everything they have got to turn things around at the club.

Town have suffered from a poor run of form in recent weeks with only two wins in their last 11 matches.

But Turner says everyone at the club is staying positive as they look to find the results on the pitch.

He said: “We have to stay positive and progress and if we work hard enough things
will turn around, but I don’t know if that will be this season or not.

“It has not gone the way we had wanted it to.

“I back my players 100%. I have no problem with the work ethic and attitude that my players have shown. They are putting in everything they can at the moment.”

Already safe from relegation, Faversham will be looking to finish the season as strongly as possible and have an opportunity to get things back on track on Saturday in Bostik South.

They play third-from-bottom East Grinstead Town but Turner said it has not been an easy place for his side to go to.

He said: “It has not been a happy hunting ground for us. They took a point in their game with Cray last weekend, so it just shows you that most teams can take points off each other in this league.”

Town suffered their second straight defeat last Saturday when they lost 2-0 at home to Chipstead.

Goalkeeper Simon Overland was sent off early in the second half, making things difficult for the home side.

Turner said: “Looking at the result on paper it was a poor result. For those people who were there it really boiled down to a couple of things.

“We paid the price for not taking our chances. We started the game well. The sending-off should never have happened and that had a big impact on the game.

“It was a coming-together between our goalkeeper and their forward and the linesman deemed it to be a red card, which doesn’t sit well with me.

“It is not always about one decision and we have to be stronger than that. The game should have been out of sight in the first 15 or 20 minutes.”
