Ten fire engines have been called to a seafront hotel.
All guests and staff have been evacuated from the Grand Burstin in Folkestone.
Emergency services have cordoned off the harbourside hotel and all roads around the site are currently closed.
The fire service is asking people to avoid the area as it deals with the incident.
Witness Nigel Scutt says he can see a huge emergency service response.
"There's no smoke so I am guessing it's an electrical fault," he said.
"Firefighters have come from various stations, but there's no smoke billowing from the building or any flames.
"I think the hotel is absolutely fine, but the response is significant.
"All of the people who were in the hotel are now standing outside and people are milling around wondering what's going on."
The fire service tweeted: "Our crews are currently dealing with an incident at Marine Parade in Folkestone.
"Please help us to respond effectively by avoiding the area if possible."
