A landscaped mini-golf course could become the latest attraction to entice crowds to a popular seaside spot.

Plans have been unveiled for a 12-hole putting challenge which would be situated close to the Folkestone Harbour Arm, alongside the Little Rock seafood restaurant and The Pilot beach bar.

Permission is being sought to have the course in place for eight years, which would make it a long-term feature of the flourishing harbour area.

As well as the holes themselves, there would also be a clubhouse, coffee shop and seating.

A spokesman for the Harbour Arm said: "In our ongoing mission to reinvent the English seaside experience, we're very excited by the possibility of being able to bring a brand new, family-friendly attraction to Folkestone harbour.

"Like much of what we offer, our hope is that this adventure golf course will be quite different to what people might expect.

"Set into our developing 'Beachside', home to Little Rock and The Pilot, we're hoping to build a unique attraction in a beautiful setting.

"This will be one of many new developments we have planned for an exciting 2022."

Designing by City Golf Europe, a specialist in adventure golf which has created more than 350 courses across Europe, the new attraction would be build in an old storage yard located to the west of the restaurant and bar.

If the plans are approved by Folkestone and Hythe District Council, two shipping containers will be fixed together to create the clubhouse and coffee kiosk, which will be accessed by a pedestrian board-walk.

Last summer a temporary mini-golf course was set up on the other side of the Harbour Arm, close to the Goods Yard and the Harbour Screen.
