09:30, 08 July 2014
A schoolboy is believed to have suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Densole near Folkestone this morning.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance and paramedics, were called at around 8.10am to the A260 junction with Coach Road close to the Black Horse Inn pub.
A nearby resident said she heard screaming and saw two ambulances and the air ambulance landing at 8.30am before it flew off north towards London at 9.05am.
It is believed the victim is an 18-year-old on his way to school.
Fire crews have not been called to the scene, but a Folkestone station spokesman said they understood a schoolboy had been hit by a car.
A Secamb spokesman said: "We received a call this morning at 7.56am to attend a car accident involving a young male on the Canterbury Road, Densole.
"A single response vehicle arrived on scene first followed by two ambulances and the air ambulance was called out. The patient sustained a serious head injury and after treatment on scene was airlifted to Kings College Hospital, London."
Villagers added they felt the 40mph speed limit should be reduced to a 30mph zone.
A police spokesman said it is likely the Serious Collision Investigation Unit will be involved.
