Folkestone: Armed police sent to harbour area

Armed police officers descended on Folkestone harbour this morning.

Officers were sent to the area at around 5.30am after they received a report a man was in possession of a firearm.

But after carrying out a sweep of the area, no firearm was located.

A police spokesman confirmed no offences were reported and the officers were stood down.

Residents reported seeing a large police presence in the area around the Grand Burstin Hotel.
