Arrest after 7 Folkestone town centre shop windows smashed

A man has been arrested after multiple shop windows were damaged in a town centre during the early hours.
Police were called shortly before 1.30am today in Guildhall Street, Folkestone, to a person reportedly behaving strangely.
A man was allegedly seen with a metal pole and multiple shop windows had been damaged.
It is understood seven reports of criminal damage have been received but this number could increase.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended and shortly afterwards a man was arrested nearby on suspicion of criminal damage.
“He remains in custody pending further inquiries.”
The Yoke cafe and the Workhouse were two of the businesses spotted in the area with tape over cracks in windows.
