Arrests after fight in Tontine Street, Folkestone

Four men have been arrested after a street brawl in the early hours over the weekend.

Police were called to the disturbance in Tontine Street in Folkestone town centre on Friday night.

Officers arrested four people from Folkestone, Hythe and Hawkinge and are appealing for witnesses.

They say they are especially keen to speak to a teenage girl they believe was assaulted during the incident between 1am and 2am on Saturday, July 23.

All four people have since been bailed while inquiries continue.

Investigating officer PC Martin Brand said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Tontine Street area of Folkestone between 1am and 2am on Saturday 23 July and may have information that could help our investigation.

"We are particularly keen to hear from a teenage girl who we believe may have been assaulted during the disturbance."

A 21-year-old man from Folkestone was arrested on suspicion of assault.

A 34-year-old man from Hythe was arrested on suspicion of assault and being drunk and disorderly while a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting police.

All three have been bailed until October 19.

Meanwhile, a fourth man, a 19-year-old from Hawkinge was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police and assaulting police. He was bailed until October 20.
