Camper van fire at Church Hill, Folkestone
09:27, 22 May 2017
Smoke billowing from a camper van fire could be seen from a neighbouring village.
The white vehicle went up in flames at about 4.45pm yesterday at Church Hill, near the Alkham Valley Road between Folkestone and Hawkinge.
One fire engine from Folkestone attended and put it out using a hose reel jet.
The crew remained at the scene for about an hour.
The front cab and the engine compartment was destroyed.
Firefighters say it is not known how the blaze started, but a witness said the vehicle burst into flames when the engine had been started.
