Two people were injured after their car ended up on its side on a motorway bank after a terrifying accident.
A woman in her 60s suffered head injuries and a man aged around 70 was hurt in the neck.
He was trapped in the car and had to be cut free.
It happened today on the coastbound carriageway of the M20 between Junctions 11 and 11a, the Hythe and Channel Tunnel turnoffs.
South East Coast Ambulance Service said that it sent two ambulances and three paramedic cars to the scene.
A spokesman said: “Two patients were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. One was a woman in her 60s, the other a man aged approximately 70.
“The woman had a slightly reduced level of consciousness but with a head injury it needed further checking.
“The man had neck injuries. Neither look like they’ve had life threatening conditions.”
Both were taken to William Harvey Hospital.
Emergency services were called out at 12.20pm and Kent Police said that this was a single vehicle collision.
Two fire engines from the Folkestone and Hythe stations also attended.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A woman was already out of the car and being assessed by a doctor prior to the crews’ arrival.
“Firefighters stabilised the vehicle, which was on its side, and then used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof, enabling them to free a man who was trapped inside.
“He was then handed into the care of the ambulance service.“
The fire crews were at the scene for nearly an hour and a half.
