Delays on the Channel Tunnel this morning are because of a power supply problem.

Eurotunnel says it is being resolved but passengers at the Folkestone side suffered up to 90 minute delays.

A statement said that services were still running but with a reduced timetable and disruption.

A spokesman for Eurotunnel said: "There is a problem with traction power in one section of the south tunnel. Technicians are in the tunnel now and we are awaiting their evaluation of the situation.

"Currently we are running in single line around the section with the power issue.

"Once we have the technicians' evaluation we will be able to estimate the time to return to full service again."

Services returned to schedule at 2pm with two shuttles running per hour in both directions, Eurotunnel said on its website.

No delays have been reported on the M20 approach to the terminal and motorway traffic is flowing freely.
