Precious Times Nursey in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, on the market
12:30, 27 July 2023
A nursery which was once a pub, and is located just steps away from an infamous ‘alleyway from hell’, is up for sale.
Precious Times Nursery on Cheriton Road, Folkestone shut down in 2018 after the owner’s retirement, and is now on the market for £410,000.
As well as the business, there is a recently refurbished four-bedroom flat above and an outbuilding.
The building is next to an underpass, which, until recently, was strewn with needles and rubbish.
In 2017 Folkestone and Hythe District Council cleared the drug den, but at the weekend, KentOnline reported it had got “so much worse” and was too dangerous for volunteer street cleaners to enter.
The council has now confirmed the site has been cleared.
Speaking about the nursery, estate agents Miles and Barr said: “We are delighted to be assisting with the marketing of this mixed-use commercial premises situated on a prime position on Cheriton Road.
“The property was formerly Precious Times Nursery and was trading successfully for decades from the premises.”
The building was previously used as a pub called The Bouverie Arms, which closed in 1997.
In its days serving pints, the pub had a rowdy reputation, seeing thefts, fights and stabbings.
The nursery then opened in 1999 after a regeneration project.
Miles and Barr added: “The property is now completely vacant and comprises of a ground floor commercial premises, with a four bedroom residential maisonette above.
“Alongside the recently modernised residential accommodation, the property benefits from a spacious outbuilding to the right-hand side.”
