Donald Trump and Theresa May's faces made out of fish at Folkestone Trawlers

00:01, 01 February 2017

Donald Trump took pride of plaice on a fish shop counter.

He is joined by Theresa May at Folkestone Trawlers in the harbour, where managing director Terry Noakes and Cath Mison, co-organiser of the Folkestone Trawler Race, spent an hour-and-a-half making the faces from fish caught on Tuesday morning.

The pair had seen a tweet last week from Sir Alan Sugar, where a likeness of Donald Trump was made from fish in Florida, and decided to make their own version.

But with Mrs May’s first visit to the White House at the weekend, they decided to go one better and create the pair to symbolise the “special relationship”.

The faces were made from smoked salmon and their hair from sea bass – with Mrs May’s skin side up to represent her silver locks. The skin also made eyebrows, and Mrs May’s mouth was made with a red pepper.

Their eyes had been donated from the fish that were going on sale in the harbour that day and two extra large prawns made the love heart placed above them.

Mr Noakes even borrowed a set of pearls from wife Carol’s dressing table to complete the look.

He said: “I just thought of Trump and May and their special relationship but really we are just promoting fresh fish.

“I think Trump is doing what he was voted in to do, which is not a bad thing.

“Theresa wants a hard Brexit and we are hoping she sticks to that.”

Ms Mison added: “We were trying to do something a bit colourful to brighten up the day.

“We saw the tweet from Lord Sugar and thought it was fantastic so we thought we’d give it a go ourselves and went one better by putting Theresa in the frame.

“There is lots of backlash so we just wanted to lighten the mood.”
