Firefighters are dealing with a huge fire after 32 acres of corn caught light in fields this afternoon.

Crews from three fire engines were sent to the blaze stretching across fields in Paddlesworth, near Hawkinge.

The fire broke out at 3.30pm and the firefighters are still dealing with the fire.

They are using a hose reel jet, beaters and installing fire breaks to prevent it spreading to another field.

The harvest season is starting imminently for farmers and the corn will have been ready to pick very soon.

Fire crews stood down at around 4.30pm.
