Shepway District Council CEO Alistair Stewart suffers heart attack

The long-serving chief executive of Shepway District Council has had a heart attack, it has been confirmed.

Alistair Stewart suffered from a heart attack on Saturday, July 23 when visiting his home county, Lincolnshire.

He is now recovering and will return to work in September.

Leader of SDC Cllr David Monk said: "I am pleased to say that, following hospital treatment, he is now recuperating and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

"We are expecting him to return to work in early September.

"I have had several conversations with him and I have reassured him that, in my experience, people who survive a heart attack are likely to live a long and fruitful life."
