Cyclist seriously injured after crash with ice cream van in Seabrook Road, Hythe

A cyclist has been seriously injured after a crash with an ice cream van.
The crash, which happened on Seabrook Road in Hythe on one of the hottest days of the year, has led to an arrest.
A 48-year-old man was taken into custody following the incident yesterday at about 5.55pm, with thousands having travelled to Kent’s coast.
The van was reportedly driving towards Folkestone when it hit the bike, which was heading towards Hythe.
Emergency services were called and the cyclist was taken to a London hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
A spokesman said: “Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses and anyone who might have dashcam footage taken in the area at the time of the collision to come forward.
“Witnesses can call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting SM/HM/085/24.
“Footage can be uploaded through our online portal.”
