Folkestone's Harbour Arm was once again a sea of red for the return of The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.

Hundreds of Kate Bush fans donned dresses and wigs to re-create the music video for her 1978 song Wuthering Heights earlier today (July 28).

The main dance event took place at midday, and then again at 4pm on the harbour arm.

These were followed by a Kate Bush tribute band, featuring an original member of her band, and a DJ set inspired by the Kent-born singer.

This is the fourth time the event has taken place after proving a huge success in 2018 and 2019, before Covid put a stop to the annual pilgrimage to honour the Bexleyheath-born songstress.

Speaking before the event, organisers said: "After its staggeringly successful return last year, which saw this one-of-a-kind event more than double in size, we’re excited to be bringing it back with a bang.”

In advance of the event a video was even produced to help people learn the routine behind the "iconic" dance.

Wuthering Heights was the singer’s debut single and remains one of her top two biggest hits, along with Running Up That Hill, which made a return to the top of the charts last year, 37 years after its first release, thanks to its appearance on hit Netflix show Stranger Things.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever started in 2013 with Shambush! in Brighton, which attempted to set a world record for the highest number of people dressed as Kate Bush in one place.

Events are now held around the world including in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, and all over the UK.

When Folkestone first joined in the fun in 2018, it was the first town - rather than city - to take part.
