Motorists are facing delays of up to four hours to board Eurotunnel Le Shuttle trains in Calais.

The train operator has blamed 'reinforced security' and passport checks at border control for the tailbacks.

It says those booked on services currently face a wait of three hours to check-in, then 45 minutes to go through border control and has apologised for the inconvenience.

It added once through passport checks people would be sent for boarding straight away.

Many Brits are returning home from Easter breaks on the continent.

Responding to one customer on Twitter, Eurotunnel denied the delays were caused by French customs working to rule.

Ferry sailings are running as normal.

There's better news for motorists on the M20 this week as the Operation Brock contraflow, designed to handle Brexit-related delays is being lifted. But part of the coastbound carriageway will be shut tonight.
