Event with drawing power
00:00, 10 October 2002
CHILDREN and adults are being invited to join an event to help organisers achieve a world record.
The Big Draw takes place on Saturday, October 19, with people all over the country drawing at noon to make it into the Guinness book of world records.
The event has been organised by The Campaign For Drawing whose patrons include illustrator Quentin Blake. In Folkestone an event is to be held at Christ Church primary school in Brockman Road. Drawing materials will be provided. Children under 16 years must be accompanied.
The fun begins at the school at 10am with artists on hand to encourage drawing.
Events are to take place in the town from Wednesday October 16 for a week. Young and old interested in drawing can visit Charlotte Emily's tea rooms, the Wishing Well tea rooms or Philip Nichol's art studio, all in the Old High Street, where drawing events will be held all week.
On Friday October 18 there is drawing and music at Woodward Hall on The Bayle, from 7-10.30pm.
