Bomb experts and an air ambulance where called to two separate dramas in a town in just over an hour.
First a boy brought home a set of rocket heads to his horrified family.
Then a helicopter flew out an injured young man.
Police said they were first called to an address in Curlew Place, Hawkinge, at 7.10pm last night for the bomb scare.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Police were called by a concerned parent after his son had found some rocket heads while using a detector in the Aerodrome and bought them home.
“Army bomb disposal were called and dealt with it.”
Hawkinge was a vital airfield during the Battle of Britain, it was our nearest to France, but it is not yet known if the devices the boy found are from that period.
Meanwhile in the town’s Orr Close, at 8.15pm, the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was called out to a man with head injuries in a house.
The 30-year-old was hurt after he collapsed and was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in London.
Paramedics and police were also at the scene.
But officers confirmed they were there to help the air ambulance and that this was not a police incident.
