Folkestone Rugby Club has cancelled tonight's firework display and barbecue thanks to a forecast of heavy rain.
Club officials posted on their Facebook page this morning a message warning members the annual event has been called off.
The notice said: "After lengthy consultations both late last night and early this morning it has been decided to cancel tonight’s firework display at the club due to the heavy rain forecast.
"We will try and rearrange the display at a later date weather permitting. Please watch out for further information.
"Please accept our apologies, but standing in heavy rain looking to the sky did not seem a good idea."
The club has been contacted but it is not yet known if the display will be rescheduled.
