Set to the music of Cliff Richard’s ‘Summer Holiday’, the video embarks on a whistlestop tour around the town, showing off the somewhat less than appealing crazy golf, beach and the town’s wildlife - or rather seagulls.

Residents have leapt to the defence of the town commenting that the video is only poking fun. Hayley Meadows said: “I moved here in August last year and I love it here.

“It’s better than some places nearby and I’ve met fabulous people. In fact I feel happy bringing up my child here.”

Clo Archer said: “It’s still nicer than Dover though!”
